Joutseno Art Summer International Film Festival is held for the second time in September 2024 in Lappeenranta, Finland. The festival focuses on the role of sustainable development and on the beauty of responsible art and filmmaking, but it warmly welcomes submissions on other themes as well.
Welcome to the second edition of Joutseno Art Summer International Film Festival!
After a successful experience in June 2023, we are more determined to organise another enriching event in September 2024, that will reach filmmakers and audience more widely.
If you wish to submit your film in one or more categories, you have the opportunity to do so starting on November 1st, 2023. For submission deadlines and other dates of the process, see the "Submit your film" page. Also remember to read the terms and conditions carefully before participating in the submitting process!
To highlight the importance of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Joutseno College is holding this international film festival offering the pleasant atmosphere and the great natural scenery of Lake Saimaa, Finland.
Our main goal with Joutseno Art Summer International Film Festival is to help maximise the engagement of select independent filmmakers who choose to challenge and reflect on global scale problems.
The festival is open to everyone and we warmly welcome people to see and enjoy various films as well as encounter one another and broaden perspective to the world. The festival also takes note to children offering a dedicated event for kids.
Joutseno Art Summer International Film Festival takes place in Lappeenranta, the central city of South Karelia province, approximately 2,5 hours trip from Helsinki, the capital city of Finland.
The main venue and partner of the film festival is Cultural Venue Nuijamies, located in the centre of Lappeenranta. Nuijamies is one of the most significant operators in Lappeenranta's cultural scene. All the screenings and recreational events are held in Nuijamies.
Some of the festival events might take place at Joutseno College, about 20 minutes by car and 10 minutes by train from the center of Lappeenranta.
